Last week I wrote about moving to Italy without speaking any Italian and how it’s undoing my perfectionist traits in real time. I make more mistakes in Italian than sentences I get right and it is almost physically painful for me to be searching in my brain for “the right answer” in real time in front of people in a bar. But I am doing it as much as I can now because I know that is the only way I can get better at something new.
